Apparently Windows 10 is Available Now

I don’t have a Windows PC at the moment so unfortunately I can’t give this one a test. Anyway, I’ve heard good things. Go forth and update. Or don’t.

Oh, I think it is free. That’s generally a good thing. Let me know in the comments if it is super amazing or really shit.

Review: 12-inch MacBook First Impressions

I’m going to have to do a few smaller posts about the 12-inch MacBook as I just don’t have the time to get a full review up all in one go.

First off, we got this MacBook from Hong Kong. I got family to buy it there and bring it back. This makes it considerably cheaper than buying it in South Africa. It is still not cheap but that did help. I also opted to buy the HDMI/USB/USB-C adapter at the same time.

I got this laptop for my girlfriend to replace hers that was taken during the robbery. She initially wanted the Space Grey one but settled on the Gold because there was no stock of the Space Grey. The reasons I opted to spend more money on this MacBook over a MacBook Air 11-inch are:

Quick Update

If you follow me on Twitter, you may know I was the victim of a burglary. That has been the reason for the lack of posts recently. I apologise for that.

Unfortunately my HTPC I was planning on doing a tutorial on was taken. I however plan to replace it so keep an eye out for that. The source code to my SuperSport Kodi Add-on was on that PC, so happy hunting if that is what you are looking for.

My TV was also taken so that has been replaced. I replaced it with an entry level LG 4k set and will be reviewing it once I have it all set up properly.

If anyone would like to sponsor me a Dropcam to review, that would give me peace of mind and make me very happy.

Finally, a laptop replacement is on the way too. Hopefully I’ll do an unboxing for this. Should be a nice little surprise.

Please do me a favour and give me a follow on Facebook and Twitter to keep up with all things tech.

Breaking: New Apple App Store Prices in South Africa

Apple has announced that prices for Apps and Services will be changing in a few locations, including South Africa.

They do this from time to time and it is fairly standard practise. This happened to us when VAT was added to digital purchases in South Africa. Prices will increase slightly to make up for the weak Rand. This may mean that you have to re-subscribe to anything that has recurring billing.

New: GoPro HERO4 Session

GoPro has released a new camera. It is a little strange to say the least. It is kind of like the new MacBook in the sense that it is slightly smaller and slightly worse but at the same price.

It is missing the 4k resolutions of the other upper range GoPros and comes in at the same price as the GoPro HERO4 Silver which has an LCD screen included. It doesn’t have a removable battery but thankfully has a micro USB instead of the GoPro classic mini USB port.
